What Are The Big Two?

JDC and JDCC aren’t just case competitions — they’re the ultimate showcase of talent, resilience, and school pride in the Canadian business school ecosystem. What sets them apart isn’t just their scale, but their legacy. Year after year, they bring together the best and brightest to compete not only in business strategy but also in debate, sports, social challenges, and charitable impact.

For schools and students alike, earning a spot on these teams is a badge of honour — a gateway to elite networking, personal growth, and national recognition. These competitions shape leaders, build lifelong friendships, and define the undergraduate experience for many.

 

Applications for JDC and JDCC open May 18th, 2025, and close June 2nd at 11:59 PM.

JDC Central is the largest undergraduate business school competition in Central Canada, with over 600 Participants from Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes. JDCC includes academic cases for 8 business disciplines, debates, sports tournaments, social competitions and charity contibutions.

Jeux Du Commerce is the biggest academic competition in Eastern Canada with 1300 participants. The 13 participating universities are competing in 13 academic disciplines, two sporting events, as well as a debate, social and participation component.

Regionals

The remaining regional case competitions may be smaller in scale than the Big Two, but they pack a serious punch. These events give students the chance to hone niche skills, dive deep into specific fields like finance, marketing, and HR, and gain exposure to focused, high-impact challenges.

 

Competitions like Financial Open, Happening Marketing, and HR Symposium offer the perfect stage for first-timers and returning competitors alike to develop professionally, represent JMSB, and build confidence for the larger circuit. They’re where strategy meets specialization — and every event is a chance to shine.

HR Symposium is the first regional competition organized by REFAEC. It combine Eastern Canadian Universities to compete in Human Resources focused cases. As well as Sports, Quiz, and participation.

Financial Open gathers around 350 students from 10 Universities to compete in financial academic disciplines. Disciplines include Market Finance, Corporate Finance, Taxation, Managerial Accounting, Quiz, Stock Simulation, and more.

Happening Marketing is the last case competition organized by REFAEC. It is a marketing-focused competition includes case solving, as well as quiz, participation and sports.
